On Vietnam's Reunification Day, April 30, 2022, Nam Dinh Vu Port has continued to set a new record when the Port successfully operated the M/V MSC KERRY belonging to the world's largest shipping company, MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company). M/V MSC KERRY is the largest container ship operating at the port system of the Bach Dang channel (239.6m LOA, 45,530 DWT capacity).
Located in a strategic location, inside the key economic zone of Nothern Vietnam, with great investments in modern and synchronous facilities and equipment provided by Gemadept, and the capacity that can accommodate up to 48,000 DWT vessels, Nam Dinh Vu Port has carried out operation with the M/V MSC KERRY in just within 13 hours. The handling capacity was up to 80 mph (using 04 QCs) with the total operated cargo of 1,700 TEUs.
By successfully operating the M/V MSC KERRY, Nam Dinh Vu Port has once again affirms its capacity to receive and operate the largest container ship in the Dinh Vu area (Nam Dinh Vu design capacity: LOA 240m, 48,000 DWT). This marks another milestone in the Port’s operation activities.
Previously, in September and October of 2021, Nam Dinh Vu Port also achieved records for operating capacity for two vessels , respectively, M/V MSC LIDIA (209m LOA, 34.300 DWT) and M/V MSC CORDELIA (LOA 223m, 40.000 DWT).
According to the plan, the construction and equipment installation in phase 2 of Nam Dinh Vu Port cluster are quickly being implemented, and is expected to be completed in early 2023, ready to be put into operation with a capacity of up to 1.2 million TEUs and a berth length of nearly 1km. Gemadept is actively investing in Nam Dinh Vu Port to enhance its outstanding service quality to meet the increasing expectation of customers, shipping lines, and partners, and at the same time continue to affirm the leading position of Gemadept Hai Phong Port cluster.
