Gemalink Port welcomed the world's largest container vessel OOCL SPAIN

On March 30, 2023 at the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Gemalink International Port has held a ceremony to welcome the container vessel M/V OOCL SPAIN with a capacity of 24,188 TEUs. The vessel belongs to OOCL and it is on the first journey connecting Asia - Europe.

Participants attending this meaningful event included the representatives of state and local leaders, leaders of agencies and sectors, the Board of Directors of Gemadept Corporation (the investor), the Board of Directors of the Gemalink Port, representatives of OOCL shipping lines, international shipping lines, and media units.

With a carrying capacity of up to 24,188 TEUs, a total length of 399.99 meters, a width of 61.3 meters, and a draft of -15 meters, OOCL SPAIN is ranked as one of the largest container vessel in the world. This is the latest vessel that has just been shipped on February 16, 2023, with a carrying capacity of TEUs being amongst the largest vessels in the world, being awarded 3 certificates of "Smart Ship" by the American Bureau of Shipping (“ABS”) for being environmentally friendly and being the largest container vessel ever to dock in Vietnam's port system.

OOCL choosing Gemalink Port as a reliable connection point in its service route once again affirms the capacity of Gemalink Port to receive the world's largest generation of container vessels today, meeting the strict requirements of international shipping lines, while further consolidating the important role of Cai Mep deep-sea port cluster on transcontinental maritime routes.

The day of the reception of OOCL SPAIN vessel at Gemalink port is a memorable milestone, opening a new stage of development for Gemalink Port in particular, and for Cai Mep port cluster and Vietnam's maritime industry in general.

And above all, this is a huge milestone in the development of the port operation industry of Vietnam.
