On the morning of February 21, Gemadept's Investor Relations Department, in collaboration with the HSSE Department, organized a communication session on the topic of ESG. The session attracted the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of employees working across the company nationwide.
ESG is an abbreviation for Environment, Social, and Governance - the three standards used to measure factors related to a company's sustainable development.
ESG criteria and reports are now essential for businesses. Investors' scrutiny, evolving customer expectations, and policy changes have compelled companies to measure, disclose, and improve ESG-related issues in the three mentioned aspects.
The training session was conducted with vivid footage, visual examples, and updated valuable knowledge. It took place in an enthusiastic and interactive atmosphere with the active participation of both attending and online employees
With a commitment to sustainable development and a deep sense of responsibility towards the community, Gemadept has implemented a roadmap that includes inventory, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, investing in modern equipment, using clean energy, and participating in reforestation efforts. The company also emphasizes corporate governance.
In the initial stages of the long-term roadmap, Gemadept is prioritizing the implementation of specific activities related to inventory and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. This includes establishing the ESG Department, collaborating with the professional consultancy unit BSI (British Standards Institution) to conduct training, inventorying, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions according to the international standard ISO 14064-1 for two largest terminal, Nam Dinh Vu and Gemalink.
Gemadept is pioneering in the Port operation industry by publicly disclosing specific data on emissions and implementing innovative emission reduction initiatives.
After implementing these measures for the exemplary units, the ESG Department will plan to expand and implement them for the remaining units of the company in the coming years.
The company places special emphasis on training and raising awareness among employees about green development, alongside specific action programs in operations and environmental protection. Gemadept aims to keep up with the world's new trends and promptly meet the requirements of the government, investors, customers, and stakeholders.
