Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, August 20, 2024 – Today, the Vietnam Ports Association (VPA) successfully held a workshop on “Maritime Green Transformation” at Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT). Nearly 70 delegates participated in the hybrid format, with some attending in person at CMIT and others joining online via MS Teams. The workshop featured the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, and representatives of the leaders of the member seaports of the Vietnam Ports Association in the Southeast region, as well as guest speakers who are experts on green transformation.
The workshop aimed to create a platform for exchanging information and experiences, raising awareness among the port community, and sharing solutions to achieve the goal of green transformation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime sector - an inevitable and urgent trend in the current global context. The speakers shared experiences and strategies to implement Vietnam's commitments at COP26, towards achieving the Net Zero goal by 2050, as well as the roadmap, plans, and actions of relevant parties in the maritime sector and their impacts on the Vietnamese port industry
Within the framework of the workshop, delegates discussed about multiple topics:
The workshop received special attention from the delegates. Issues related to challenges and opportunities in implementing green transformation were also discussed enthusiastically. Delegates also agreed that strengthening cooperation among stakeholders is a key factor in accelerating the green transformation process, helping the Vietnamese seaport industry move further on the path of sustainable development.
