On July 26th, 2018, the Forbes Vietnam Business Forum 2018 successfully took place in Ho Chi Minh City. This year's Forbes Vietnam annual forum was titled "Building Sustainable Growth" where business leaders and experts met, discussed the most important issues concerning the health of the economy and enterprise development. One highlight of the Forum this year was the ceremony to honor Vietnam’s 50 best listed companies in 2018.
In June, Forbes Vietnam announced the list of the 50 best listed companies in Vietnam to honor the best performing companies in the market. According to Forbes, the 50 companies on the list now hold a market cap of 70.8% of both HSX and HNX. The total profit of those listed companies reached VND 106,949 billion, up 34% over the same period. The sixth list of Forbes Vietnam also showed the breakthrough of many large companies, especially the private sector ones.
The 2018 Business Forum was held in the context of gradual stabilization of Vietnamese economy. Besides the bright spots of economic performance in the first half of the year, Vietnam is facing many challenges from geopolitical turmoil in the world, in which the trade war between two of the largest economies, which are China and the United States, has been attracting the most attention. In order to adapt to the ever-changing business environment, enterprises need to formulate strategies to ensure sustainable growth through long-term investment in core industries that Vietnam is capable of developing.
Being honored in the list of 50 best listed companies in Vietnam by Forbes for the 3rd time, Gemadept has been striving for development over its history of almost 30 years. Towards the year 2022, the Corporation continues to well operate its existing network while keep on investing in expansion and development of key port and logistics projects, positively contributing to push up Vietnam’s economic growth.
